Our three family ranches total 36,000 acres between the Pecos and Rio Grande Rivers in far West Texas. Each ranch has a good balance of Whitetail and Mule Deer living in the rolling hills, bushy creek beds and wide open spaces. Our lodge is located about 45 miles southeast of Fort Stockton, Texas on highway 285. Take Hwy. 285 south from Fort Stockton, turn on the second blacktop road to your left, this is about 29 miles out, go 12 miles, turn left at the sign that reads Lone Star Trail - Huckaby Ranch, go 3 miles on the ranch road to the lodge. There is also an International airport in Midland-Odessa which is 145 miles from the hunting lodge that you can fly into. While most ranches and outfitters can offer only one type of trophy deer to the hunter, we offer you the opportunity to take two different types of deer- West Texas' Best Trophy Whitetail and Desert Mule Deer. We have 4000 acres of game proof fencing in order to better manage for mature quality deer. We employ supplemental feeding, deer counts and harvesting of does to maintain a balanced deer population. Only top quality mature bucks that have reached their full potential are objective for the trophy hunter. Our experienced guides have your interests and hunting success at heart. They will assist you in whatever way possible to see that you have an enjoyable, successful hunt. Basic hunting techniques used are: elevated stands, electronic feeders, horn rattling, stalking, still hunting and 4WD vehicles. Unlike most outfitters I run hunts on my own land and take the utmost care in protecting the land and it's environment while managing for top quality wildlife. Through the years hunting the family ranches, I have watched, l learned and experienced many amazing sights of nature.I enjoy sharing those experiences with other hunters and work at providing every hunter an opportunity to have a chance at taking that "deer of a lifetime". Our newly built hunting lodge will accommodate ten to twelve hunters comfortably. Our experienced camp cook will provide you with an excellent,nourishing and varied cuisine. Deposits should be made as soon as possible to reserve space for your hunt. We strictly limit the number of hunters on our ranches as we very rarely hunt the same ranch twice during the year, thus allowing a healthy deer population while maintaining a top quality game management program. All deposits are non-refundable but can be transferred if a replacement is found. Trophy Hunt.... "ONE" Whitetail only. This 5 day hunt is run inside our 4,000 plus acre high fence, game managed area. COMBINATION HUNT.... "ONE" Whitetail and "ONE" Mule Deer Buck or "TWO" Whitetail Bucks. This 5 day hunt is not guaranteed but has the same opportunities to take trophy animals. We experienced 100% success the first year. WHITETAIL ONLY HUNT.... This 5 day hunt will be booked before or after Mule Deer Season.
